That’s Big Mama’s. That’s family owned. It’s all black-owned, all family owned. Everybody that works in her restaurant is a niece, nephew, daughter, son, granddaughter, or grandson. They not only employ their own, they feed the community. Not just the ones who live here, but all the ones who work in the area. In holiday seasons, she gives food away. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, she gives things away the entire day for free, for all those people who either didn’t want to cook or wouldn’t have gotten a meal. Here is the thing. A lot of people can learn from her. Not only does she do it in an area and refuses to leave. You know how many times she could have left and gone somewhere bigger and done something else? She does not want to go, she stays right there. She refuses to leave. That is powerful. If we all had that mentality, we wouldn’t be having this conversation right now.
